The Directors of The Textile and Design Studio (TT|DS), Niamh Brennan and Sonya Romeo, met at the Australian Institute of Creative Design (AICD). Coincidentally, Niamh and Sonya discovered they lived on the same island on the Gold Coast and a friendship quickly formed. It was during this time, while working on a renovation design project and struggling to source unique stylish performance fabrics, that Sonya and Niamh created the artwork for what would eventually become the Coast Collection.

In its infancy, the Coast Collection was printed onto fabric base cloths of various compositions via a process called dye-sublimation. After testing these printed fabrics in the elements, it was clear they could not withstand Australia’s harsh outdoor climate. Eventually, 3Beaches Textiles Pty Ltd (3Beaches) was formed and its quest for quality and durability,  3Beaches aligned itself with the brand Sunbrella, the world leader in performance fabrics. The Coast Collection was then woven with the composition 100% Sunbrella acrylic.

Since late 2016, two of the original co-founders of 3Beaches, Niamh and Sonya, have remained the owners and driving force behind 3Beaches. Sonya and Niamh have continued to collaborate with Sunbrella to curate and design further collections such as the soothing Cocoon Collection, the vibrant Jewel Collection, and the sophisticated and timeless Auchenflower Collection. In addition to designing and distributing 3Beaches fabric, Sonya and Niamh have evolved the business to distribute other brands that have the same demand for excellence and formed the The Textile & Design Studio (TT|DS). TT|DS is proud to distribute Dash & Albert Rug Company rugs, Jerry Pair Leather hides and Santa Barbara Designs umbrellas and have further expanded to manufacture, embroider, weave and print 3Beaches and TT|DS designs onto other applications such as leather, bedding and wallpaper.

Under the continued guidance of Sonya and Niamh, TT|DS offers a bespoke textile and interior design service to select trade, marine, residential and commercial customers.
